Effect of jigsaw learning method on theoretical achievement of technical nursing institute students regarding the second stage of labour

Abstract

Background:Jigsaw learning method affects theoretical achievement. Aim of the study: was to evaluate effect of Jigsaw learning method on theoretical achievement of technical nursing institute students regarding the second stage of labour. Setting: The study was conducted at Technical Nursing Institute in Benha University. Research design: A quasi experimental study was utilized to conduct the study. Sample: A systematic random sample included 60 nursing students was selected and divided equally into two groups control and study groups. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used: Tool I: A structured self administered questionnaire.part 1: General characteristics of the nursing students. Part 2: students knowledge assessment questionnaire. TOOL II: Cooperative Jigsaw opinion sheet. Results: The present study revealed that after implementation of the Jigsaw learning method the mean scores of theoretical achievement were statistically higher in studygroupcomparedtocontrolgroup. Also, the majority of the study group were satisfied toward Jigsaw learning method. Conclusion: The Jigsaw learning method was greatly more effective in improving theoretical achievement of students toward the second stage of labour. Recommendations: Integration of Jigsaw learning method in curriculum development at obstetrics and gynecology field.
