Effect of Jigsaw learning method on theoretical and practical achievement of technical nursing institute students regarding the second stage of labour

Abstract

Background: Jgsaw learning method affects theoretical and practical achievement Aim of the
study: was to evaluate effect of Jigsaw learning method on theoretical and practical achievement
of technical nursing mnstitute students regarding the second stage of labour Setting: The study was
conducted at Technical Nursing Institute in Benha University Research design: A quasi
experimental study was utilized to conduct the study Sample: A systematic random sample
included 60 nursing students was selected and divided equally into two groups control and study
groups. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used: Tool (): A structured self- administrated
questionnaire: part (1): General characteristics of the technical nursing institute students. Part
(2): Student's knowledge assessment questionnaire . Tool (II): Observational checklist. Tool (I):
Cooperative Jgsaw opmion sheet Results: The present study results revealed that, after
implementation of the Jgsaw learning method the mean scores of theoretical and practical
achievements was statistically hgher in the study group compared to control group (P 5 0.05)
Also, more than three quarter s of the study group were satisfied regarding Jgsaw learing method
Conclusion The Jigsaw learning method was signi ficantly more effective in improving theoretical
and practica I achievemen t of nursing students regarding he second stage of labour
Recommendations: Integration of Jgsaw learning method in curriculum development at
obstetrics and gynecology nursing
