Abstract
Background: Drawing breath of is a life-threatening condition. It is characterized by considerable breathing problems. Lactate is a rapidly a vailable variable that is closely linked to problems and death in almost every critically ill infant. Our purpose in this work was anticipating problems of drawing breath of meconium by measuring lactate. Methods: It is randomized control work, that's occur on 40 infants with liquor stained with meconium. They were gave permission to enter Benha University Hospital from February 2020 to November 2020. Results: Need of resuscitation in infant with of liquor stained with meconium was 60%. Surfactant administration was 16%. Hospital stay, range between (4–45) days. Maternal history of diabetic mother was 20% and maternal history of hypertension was 12%, white out lung in 16%, hypoxic ishemic encephalopathy in 52% and need for respiratory support in 64%. Conclusion: Lactate measurement might be used for anticipating problems such as air leak syndrome, hypxic ischemic encephalopathy and need for respiratory support in infants with liquor stained with meconium.
